  <title>Birmingham International Comic Show 2006</title>
  <link>http://www.superheroalterego.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=9</link>
<description>Well there goes my first Comic Show.

An early start on the Saturday morning meant I was naturally late to pick up Giraffe Boy but as nothing was surprisingly forgotten, we made up the time on the beautifully empty M5. Finding the place was no real trouble, although the desolate car park scene left us doubting our final resting place for the weekend. People will know what I mean.
The custard factory was the venue, and this is a new arts and media centre in what seemed like the centre of town (not knowing a great deal about Britain&#039;s second biggest city).

Once we had lugged our kit into the hall, I realised we were going to have a pretty high-tech stall with no obvious signs of power. A quick extension and gaffa tape snake soon wound its way across the floor to us as the staff made sure everyone got what they needed. We had some minor teething difficulties getting our banner and stuff set up, but hey, popping the cherry should be a bumbling affair anyway, and wire and more gaffa tape stopped the banner droop...

Once the machines were powered up, we hit geek problem number 2. No internet access. Pretty tough to show off an internet site without access to it. This is when an unprecedented flash of forethought and planning ensured we were cool. A pre-installed version of the site on the main PC. Happy days, and it was time to get some breakfast in.</description>
